«Digital Finance» section draft programme
Session 1. Role of the blockchain in the digital economy
The creators of blockchain concept presented it as a tool to remove banks from the financial system. After a while it became clear that the technology itself has its own limitations, while its benefits are not that obvious even in the niche cases.
— Is it necessary for banks to utilize blockchain and why?
— In which cases blockchain has already been applied by banks and proven its efficiency?
— What new cases are considered by banks as the most perspective to use blockchain?
— Will blockchain replace the existing payment systems?
— Banks’ attitude to crypto-currencies and ICO, are they ready to deal with it?
— What government-level initiatives could help banks to utilize blockchain more efficiently?
Session 2. Artificial intelligence as the future of banking business
AI is considered to be an efficient tool to increase the banking activities efficiency with reduction of expenses for human resources and improvement of the decision-making process. The 4th industrial revolution promises to replace 80% of the banking employees with machines.
— Can banks really utilize AI in their operations? In what fields it would be most benefitial with minimum expenses?
— How to trust AI in the business process, taking into consideration that people are not always capable to understand the reasons of AI decisions?
— What changes in the legislation are necessary to allow banks to sufficiently utilize AI (i.e. the Central Bank of the Russian Federation currently requires that banks are able to justify decisions to give a credit)?
Session 3. Financial eco-system transformation
Central Bank of the Russian Federation suggested to implement monumental transformation of the financial ecosystem based on the platform for transactions registration, surrounded by market places, robbo-advisers etc.
At the same time payments and transactions are becoming a more and more discreet service and that is easy to explain – people and organizations are not dreaming to take a credit or make a transaction, they actually want to find a solution for their tasks.
— Will such a system be functioning sufficiently?
— What place will banks take and how would they create value?
— How should banks be changed due to the facts?
— Can a financial organization become a unified access point to all the provided services?
— What steps should be performed by bank to become an eco-system for the user? How can a bank help citizens and businesses to save time and efforts?
— What would be clients’ spotlights tomorrow and how can bank be integrated into them?
— What legislation changes should be applied by the State to make banks a more efficient tool for the clients?
